Melissa Tumblin was presented a check from Broomfield Rotary for her non-profit Ear Community which helps families with ear and hearing challenges. The check included 2500 dollars from the Broomfield Club and 2100 dollars from a matching grant from Rotary District 5450. Melissa presented an interesting capsule of the Ear Community’s accomplishments over the past 14 years. The Ear Community has had interactions with over 20,00 people and have provided needed equipment and scholarships to those affected by this impairment throughout the world. The Ear Community has had impact in many countries across the world including North and South America, Europe, South Africa, Asia and Australia. Mellissa’s daughter Ally was the motivator for the non-profit and the Ear Community has made an impressive impact in support of those affected by the condition.

*** It was a beautiful day with about 170 people attending from our community! There were happy tears from new parents meeting older children and adults who have microtia and atresia, realizing that they are not alone with this rare cause and on the journey with missing ears and hearing loss. Our events are always priceless to those who attend! We had one plastic surgeon from Beverly Hills, CA and also the Captain of the US Olympic Fencing Team (who have a baby with a missing ear). This was their first time at our picnic and they plan to have some of the fencing team at my NYC event next summer as a result! We had two banners made that thanked the Broomfield Rotary Club and Rotary International for sponsoring our picnic and I also announced this twice as our organization's thank you to Rotary for making our day possible! Thank you so much for helping make our Broomfield Headquarter event so special!!!
